Fall Open Lab Schedule
August 28, 2009The Fall 2009 open lab schedule starts today: gds.parkland.edu/gds/studio/hours.html. Please note that there will be no open lab on Monday Sept 7 (Labor Day). In addition to C138 open lab hours, student may also use M108 which has 8 Macintosh stations with the same software installed as in C138. Some instructors may allow select students to sit in the back of C138 during their classes. Please ask for permission before doing so.

- Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers when you can’t wash your hands.
- Keep commonly-touched surfaces like keyboards, pens, doorknobs, phones, sanitized.

Annual Parkland Art and Design Faculty Exhibition
August 25, 2009They’re more than great instructors: The Art and Design faculty at Parkland College are also great artists. Recent works created by the faculty will be showcased in the 2009 Parkland College Art and Design Faculty Exhibition, from August 24 through September 26 at the Parkland Art Gallery. An artists’ reception on Thursday, August 27, from 6 to 8 pm in the gallery lounge will offer a great opportunity to view the faculty’s work, mingle with the artists, and hear Paul Young talk about his work. Live music by Circle of Friends will round out the evening’s festivities.
High Noon with the Artist on Thursdays
The following series of educational lectures will coincide with the exhibit. Faculty from selected areas will discuss their work in more depth. These lunch-hour lectures begin at noon in the gallery; each should be about a half an hour in length.

Lab Monitors Wanted
August 17, 2009Responsible graphic design students wanted for paid lab monitor positions. You are comfortable with Macintosh OSX and graphic design software. You also enjoy helping other students. No prior experience necessary, but preference will be given to GDS students with 2 or more completed classes.
